Gili Nanggu
The largest of the trio and the classic first stop. Its sheltered position inside the bay produces flat, clear water that makes snorkelling easy straight off the beach, with reef fish in the shallows a few fin-kicks from the sand.
Three small islands in Sekotong Bay on Lombok's quiet southwest coast, where the water is calmer and the beaches far emptier than anything off Gili Trawangan.

Unlike the three famous northern Gilis, the Sekotong islands have no high-frequency public boat feeding them with day-trippers. That is precisely the appeal — and precisely why a private boat is the practical way to see them properly.
Charters depart from Gili Gede, the island that hosts Lombok Marina del Ray and serves as the operating base for yachts cruising Lombok, Sumbawa and Komodo.

The lunch island. A short hop from Nanggu, with a calm swimming beach and simple beachfront warungs where your crew can arrange grilled fish while you dry off.
A tiny dot of sand and a handful of trees, small enough to walk around in a few minutes. At certain tides a bare sandbank emerges beside it — this is where most guests take the photograph that ends up defining the trip.

Straight in off the beach into shallow reef with fish in the first metre.

In Sekotong Bay on Lombok's southwest coast — a different side of the island from the famous three. The cluster holds around thirteen islets; Gili Nanggu, Gili Sudak and Gili Kedis anchor almost every itinerary.
Calmer water, emptier beaches, and no high-frequency public boat network bringing day-trippers. You trade the bars and the turtle site for having a beach largely to yourselves.
Gili Gede, which hosts Lombok Marina del Ray and serves as the operating base for yachts cruising Lombok, Sumbawa and Komodo. It is a drive from the north of the island, so allow for the transfer.
It is the better choice of the two Gili clusters for young children and nervous swimmers. The bay is sheltered, the water is shallow and flat, and you can snorkel straight off the sand rather than from a boat in current.

Send your date and group size and we will confirm a boat out of Gili Gede, with the tide checked against the Kedis sandbank.
