Why private
It is not comfort. It is timing
Shared trips run fixed schedules, so every boat reaches the famous turtle site off Gili Meno inside the same one-hour window and you snorkel in a crowd of fins. A private boat leaves when you choose — float over the turtle point almost alone, then move on as the group boats arrive.
Currents around the three Gilis shift with the tide, and the best snorkelling at each site falls in a different window. A private captain reads the water and re-orders the day. A fixed itinerary cannot.

When is visibility best?
The dry season from May to October, when visibility around the Gilis and Sekotong Bay runs roughly twenty to thirty metres. Within a day, the light is best from mid-morning to early afternoon.
Are the northern Gilis or the Secret Gilis better?
The northern Gilis have the turtles and the reef drifts. The Secret Gilis in Sekotong Bay have flatter, shallower water and almost nobody in it, which makes them the better call for families and nervous swimmers.
Is gear included?
Yes — masks, fins and floats in adult and child sizes, plus paddleboards, and a dedicated in-water guide who swims with the group rather than watching from the boat.
Half day or full day?
A full day covers four or five sites and lets the captain order them around the tide. A half day realistically covers two. If turtles are the priority, take the full day and depart early.
